Abstract:
Corrosion under insulation is a damage mode that often occurs and is difficult to avoid in pressure pipelines. In regular inspections, wall thickness measurement, X ray and ultrasonic wave are indispensable. Under the thermal insulation corrosion is due to the electrochemical corrosion of water and other media into the insulation layer and metal formation [1]. Under thermal insulation corrosion is a damage mode that often occurs and is difficult to avoid in pressure pipelines, with strong concealment and large range. In the process of regular inspection, the usually remove the insulation for wall thickness measurement is a common detection method. The traditional methods all need remove the insulation layer, affected the construction schedule and inspection efficiency. Nowadays, in-service wall thickness measurement methods to reduce inspection costs and prolong the production cycle. However, conventional in-service inspection methods for non-dismantling insulation cannot provide accurate wall thickness data. This paper proposed digital radiographic detection for in-service inspection and measurement of corrosion under insulation, wall thickness measurement data, measurement accuracy, and method to reduce measurement errors. Research showed that digital radiographic detection technology can be used to measure the corrosion depth under the insulation and has engineering application value.
