154645 - Conformity Analysis of Austenitic Stainless Steel Pressure Vessels Constructed According to en 13445 With Basic Safety Requirements of the Relative Chinese Regulation
Abstract:
Pressure vessel manufacturers outside of China may use non Chinese standards to construct pressure vessels for export to China, but they must meet basic safety requirements of the relative Chinese pressure vessel regulations while meeting the product standards. In recent years, pressure vessel manufacturers within the European Union have increasingly adopted the EN 13445 standard to construct pressure vessels for export to China. For austenitic stainless steel pressure vessels, two different methods for determining allowable stress are specified in EN 13445 based on the different rupture elongation rates of the material. These two methods are significantly different from the method used by Chinese regulations to determine the allowable stress of materials based on yield strength, tensile strength, and corresponding safety factors. This paper compared and analyzed the safety factors of the austenitic stainless steel pressure vessels constructed under EN 13445: 2021 with the safety factor requirements of the Chinese regulation, which is TSG 21-2016 Supervision Regulation on Safety Technology for Stationary Pressure Vessels. Case study was also carried out to analyze plastic collapse load of the austenitic pressure vessels with different safety factors both by formula and by numerical simulation. Finally, a simple method was proposed to determine whether the austenitic stainless steel pressure vessels constructed under EN 13445 meet the basic safety requirements of the Chinese regulation.
