154506 - Discussion on Hydrogen Leakage Analysis in Typical Hydrogen Energy Application Scenarios
Abstract:
Hydrogen has been widely used in the chemical industry. With its large-scale adoption as an energy medium, hydrogen energy application scenarios have diversified significantly, encompassing fields such as energy storage, transportation, metallurgy, and aerospace. Hydrogen leakage remains a critical concern in these applications. Although numerous studies have focused on the risk assessment of hydrogen leakage, they often target specific scenarios, resulting in findings that are either too specialized or overly conservative. This highlights a gap in generalized modeling and the description of boundary conditions for hydrogen leakage, which is essential for providing foundational data for research and analysis.
This paper investigates key parameters in hydrogen leakage models, including space dimensions, ventilation conditions, and obstacles. Focusing on typical hydrogen storage and transportation equipment—such as hydrogen compressors, hydrogen pipelines, onboard cylinders, stationary hydrogen storage containers, and mobile hydrogen storage units—we analyze common installation and operational spaces, ventilation conditions, and potential obstacles. Utilizing a hydrogen leakage failure database, we examine possible failure points and hydrogen leakage rates, as well as the diffusion and accumulation behaviors of hydrogen and its concentration distribution patterns.
By comprehensively reviewing the specific parameters—such as space size and ventilation conditions—in hydrogen leakage analysis models for typical application scenarios, we analyze hydrogen concentration distributions under the most stringent conditions. The results provide a foundational model reference for hydrogen leakage across diverse hydrogen energy applications. Furthermore, our findings offer a basis for the selection and installation of sensors for hydrogen concentration detection and monitoring, aiding in enhancing safety measures in typical hydrogen energy environments.
