107033 - A Review on the Hydrogen Production From Ocean Renewable Energy and the Application Status 

The development of ocean renewable energy is of strategic significance to the world’s low-carbon transformation of energy. Throughout the world, a lot of ocean renewable energy development projects have been carried out or are under planning, and the combination of green hydrogen and ocean renewable energy is an ideal way to develop ocean renewable energy. This paper first surveyed the main ocean renewable energy hydrogen production projects over the world. Detailed information about the technical route and scale of renewable energy development in these projects were then summarized. With the development of ocean renewable energy gradually moving towards deep and distant seas, large-scale and low-cost ocean renewable energy development has become a critical concern in both industry and academia. Therefore, the key technical links in ocean renewable energy development and hydrogen production have been investigated and discussed in detail, including offshore floating platforms, seawater electrolysis hydrogen production, hydrogen energy storage and transmission technologies, etc. Based on the current ocean renewable energy development projects, the application status and development trend of these technologies were analyzed. Meanwhile, in view of large-scale and low-cost ocean renewable energy development, this paper further discussed the main technical challenges faced by the current ocean renewable energy.
