154715 - What's New for 2025 in Asme Section Viii?
Abstract:
This technical presentation will focus on revisions to ASME Section VIII Division 1 and Division 2 that will be published with the 2025 Edition of the Code.
Attendees will gain an understanding of the reorganization of Division 1, the manner in which Common Rules with Division 2 are used, technical revisions made to each Division and how the Committee considers changes to be made.
Attendees will recieve information on how to become involved with an ASME Committee and the amount of work that is involved with Committee membership.
Some key changes that will be reviewed include an overhaul of Division 1 Appendix 2 flange design rules and a revision to analysis methods of Part 5 in Division 2. Attendees will also learn about the how the scope of each Division will be changing, including the elimination of the so-called six inch rule currently in Division 1, U-1(c)(2)(-i) as well as pressure vessels containing water under pressure currently in Division 1, U-1(c)(2)(-f).
The Committee has spent a large amount of time on rewriting difficult to understand passages in a manner that is easier to read, easier to comprehend, and easier to comply with. These changes will be reviewed as well.
Attendees will leave the technical presentation with a better understanding of the content and layout of ASME Section VIII, Division 1 and Division 2.
