122930 - Research and Application of Crude Oil Storage Tank Integrity Management 

Crude oil storage tanks are subject to corrosion and settlement due to their environmental circumstances, which can lead to leaks, fires and explosions, posing a significant threat to human life, property and the environment. In order to secure crude oil storage tanks, a crude oil storage tank integrity management system with safety target as the core is innovatively proposed to guide the integrity management of crude oil storage tanks throughout their life cycle for the first time. A five step cycle integrity management process for storage tanks, including data collection, risk assessment, integrity assessment, decision response and efficiency assessment, has been constructed as an implementation method for integrity management of storage tank. Furthermore, the effectiveness of integrity management for crude oil storage tanks is demonstrated by accurately characterizing the security status of 38 storage tanks in a large oil depot. The results show that the risk of 38 storage tanks has been accurately calculated and increased to varying degrees after 6 years. The integrity of the storage tank is accurately analyzed by relevant standards and finite element models. Finally, measures of decision response for storage tanks and assessment results of the efficiency of tank integrity management are obtained for improving the safety and integrity management effectiveness of storage tanks. The method proposed in present work can provide significant support information for managers on how to optimize integrity management strategies and achieve limited resource allocation.
