123163 - The Development of Hydrogen Energy Equipment Safety Certification in China 

In recent years, hydrogen energy industry has experienced rapid development, igniting a surge in research and development of hydrogen energy equipment in China. However, the insufficient manufacturing experience of domestic hydrogen energy equipment manufacturers, a lack of fundamental data for hydrogen-related equipment testing, the inadequacy of relevant standards and regulations, and the absence of product safety certification for hydrogen energy equipment have resulted in varied levels of quality and safety management in domestic hydrogen energy equipment products. These disparities impede the sustainable development of hydrogen energy equipment in China. This article initiates by introducing the concepts of product certification and safety certification. It elaborates on the model and necessity of product safety certification for hydrogen energy equipment in China. Additionally, the safety certification information and relevant standards and regulations of domestic hydrogen energy equipment were investigated. The current status of safety certification for hydrogen energy equipment in China is briefly outlined. An analysis of the challenges encountered in the present stage of safety certification for hydrogen energy equipment is provided. Finally, targeted recommendations are presented for the future development of domestic hydrogen equipment safety certification. These recommendations provide valuable insights toward the standardization and normalization of hydrogen energy equipment, ensuring high-quality development and safe operation of such equipment in China, and establishing a safety certification system for hydrogen energy equipment within the country.
