106195 - Overview of the Korean Program on Fe-Based Natural Crack Growth Simulation System
In this paper, the recent works on natural crack growth simulation due to primary water stress corrosion cracking and fatigue (thermo- and mechanical) using 3-dimensional finite element analysis are introduced. Basically, this work has been supported by Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power Company and tends to improve the accuracy of crack growth predictions in nuclear components.
This works consists of 4 individual tasks as follows;
Task 1: Suggestion of natural crack growth algorithm considering stress corrosion cracking, thermal and mechanical fatigue for single and multiple cracks.
Task 2: 3D iterative finite element mesh generation algorithm for 3D natural crack growth simulation
Task 3: Enhanced stress intensity factor and crack growth calculation using unstructured finite element mesh
Task 4: Experimental validations of natural crack growth prediction for SCC and fatigue
As for crack growth mechanisms, both thermal fatigue and stress corrosion cracking will be considered, and in terms of crack shape, not only a single crack but also multiple cracks in plate and cylinder components will be considered.
Moreover, new fatigue crack initiation and growth prediction methods based on cohesive zone modeling will be also suggested in this work.
In this paper, we will introduce an overview of all related studies above mentioned, and in the following individual presentations, we will also introduce the research results of each task to date including future plans.
